Dairygold to axe 500 jobs by end of the year

DAIRYGOLD workers face a bleak Christmas after the company announced that 500 jobs are to be axed by the end of the year.

Workers have been warned that mandatory redundancies will be imposed if necessary from December 17.

In all, 1,500 jobs are to be shed from the 3,200-strong workforce as part of a major cost-cutting programme at the dairy/food group.
