Taoiseach expresses horror as he pledges action

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern last night pledged immediate action to protect children as the Dáil expressed its horror at the findings of the Ferns inquiry.

Mr Ahern promised swift implementation of the recommendations in the document as he spoke of his repugnance at what had been exposed.

“It is a catalogue of serial abuse and gross dereliction of duty in the diocese of Ferns.
