Fire victims furious after fall in water pressure

Up to 60 jobs are in jeopardy in Bunclody and a number of business people are homeless after the homes and businesses in the town centre were gutted in an accidental blaze.

Staff at Wexford County Council were investigating the matter yesterday following criticism of the level of water available for the blaze. The fire broke out just before 6am on Sunday and spread rapidly through the Main Street buildings. Senior engineer with Wexford Co Council Daragh Cullinane said the matter was being looked at. “We are carrying out a technical examination of the fire flows and the capacity of the water mains in the area. We have not received any direct complaint. That would be a matter for the chief fire officer of the area.”
