PEOPLE who don't go to Mass regularly should not seek church weddings, or send their children forward for baptism, First Communion, or confirmation, Bishop of Kerry Bill Murphy said yesterday.

For such people to receive the sacraments which include anointing the sick and marriage would be "a lie, a charade and an abuse", Bishop Murphy said.

There was a growing lack of respect for, and even abuse of, the sacraments. People who do not share the faith should not receive the sacraments, he said.
