Dumped dead horse a grisly sight for villagers

THE grisly sight of a dead horse, trussed up in wire and dumped on the side of the road, confronted villagers on their way to work yesterday morning.

It was dumped overnight on Monday on the road from Naas, close to the village of Kilmeague in Co. Kildare.

Villagers believe it had become entangled in wire and died as it tried to break out of a field, but that its owner chose to dump it rather than bury it.

Bar owner Tom Fogarty, who runs Eleson House in Kilmeague, said he passed the horse on his work.

“It might have died in a field and they just gathered it up and the owner just wanted to get rid of it rather than bury it. It’s not a pretty sight.’’
