‘Perverse’ failings in mental health

FINE GAEL yesterday accused the Government of “perverse” failures in mental health, saying it had not implemented a task- force report on suicide.

Speaking during leaders’ questions yesterday, party leader Enda Kenny said three quarters of the population would know someone who suffered from some form of mental illness at some point in their lives.

Mr Kenny questioned the Government’s failure to implement the task force report even though Ireland had the highest suicide rate among young men in Europe.
