Speed limits set to change

SPEED limits are to go both up and down under Government proposals.

On motorways and other main roads, the limits will be increased, but in some built-up areas and on minor roads they will be lowered.

Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has signalled approval of the plans, which will see motor top speeds rise from the current 70mph to 75mph.
