THE taxman has vowed to prosecute bogus non-resident account holders who don't come forward to pay their back-taxes and penalties by tomorrow.

The Revenue Commissioners are expecting a last-minute flood of account holders, ordered to settle their dues, right up to the Tuesday deadline.

The Revenue wrote to 30,000 people linked to the 13,500 accounts on October 11 telling them to pay penalties and unpaid tax by December 17 or face prosecution. Accounting sources said a large number of defaulters have paid over sums of up to €400,000 in recent weeks.
