411 traffic accident fatalities last year cost the country €750m, says report

The NRA estimate, which takes into account the cost of fatalities and medical treatment, means every road death last year cost more than €500,000.

The overall figure is down on the year before. In 2000, a total of 415 road deaths resulted in a bill of €762m. The level of road deaths in Ireland, 11 deaths per 100,000 people, now ranks joint-seventh among the 15 EU member States.
