THE latest revelations from the Moriarty Tribunal on the awarding of the second mobile telephone licence show there was an astonishingly haphazard attitude in dealings relating to a valuable national asset.

But the relations between the Irish government and the EU over the awarding of the licence were equally haphazard as the tribunal will no doubt learn when Commission officials appear before it in the New Year.
