Ladies flaunt latest in local fashion
But she’ll now be enjoying a shopping trip much further afield.
Her prize as the best dressed lady at the major meeting sees her head for New York for a marathon shopping bonanza.
“I’ve never done anything like this before. It’s my first time even considering entering such a competition,” the delighted mother-of-two said as she picked up her prize, sponsored by Powers Gold Label.
“I’m shocked. I’ve been in New York a few times and am delighted with this prize. I’ll really have to plan this trip. I shop a lot locally in Naas and could do with a good spree,” she added.
Vivienne and her husband, Kevin, work hard and run a number of Centra stores in the Naas area. “We’re here on our own today, enjoying a day out together.
“The children, Scott, 11, and Katelyn, six, are at home,” said the 35-year-old.
She picked up her pink coat at Mona Lisa in Naas; her headpiece and bag came from Evita, also in Naas, and her linen trousers and top came from Sasha in Naas.
And as well as taking the best dressed lady title, the couple were experiencing a winning streak on the track as well, backing a winner in the first.
And the horse was aptly named ahead of her New York spree. Afistfullofdollars obliged for the couple, romping home at odds of 8/1.
“I’m not the expert at the horses. Kevin is. Whatever we win or lose today, it has gotten off to a great start,” she said.
The judges found her most appropriately dressed for yesterday’s racing. The mixture of sunshine and showers meant those who chose a more summery look were cowering in corners, desperately trying to keep warm.
Baby blues, dusky pinks and crisp whites were the order of the day among the ladies dressed to impress. But as the showers came down ahead of the third race, many of the dedicated followers of fashion would have loved to have swapped their haute couture for a rainproof coat.
At least it doesn’t rain at the bar!
