SINN FÉIN yesterday left the door open to a possible breakthrough deal on policing in the North.

Delegates at the party’s Árd Fheis voted down a move to reject any such compromise ahead of a united Ireland.

A special conference on the issue will now be held if Sinn Féin feels reforms have gone far enough.
