State neglecting alcohol problem, says adviser

THE Government is neglecting the alcohol problem, an adviser on a Government task force claimed yesterday.

Dr Joe Barry accused the Government of bending to the will of the drinks lobby.

The comments came as a new report showed 40% of those who died in car crashes and 55.5% of those who died by suicide had alcohol in their bloodstream.
