Charity presents gift aid campaign

NOTHING could have prepared Derbhal O’Brien for the trauma of Darfur, the embattled region of the Sudan where violence and hunger have blighted the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

“The situation is not very good there,” she says.

“In the last month it has deteriorated rapidly. The rains have been late and shorter than usual so there is going to be a hunger problem. A lot of people have been displaced.”
