THERE’LL be plenty of mean machines on display in the RDS next month when the Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition hosts its own version of the television series Robot Wars.

While more than 1,200 students put the finishing touches to their projects during the Christmas holidays, the Air Corps were doing their bit at the Baldonnel airfield in Dublin yesterday.

They have created a 30-foot octagonal Robots of Destruction arena for the machines featured in the BBC TV series to strut their stuff at the event. Among the robots taking part are: Diotoir, Panic Attack, Chaos 2 and Draven.
