More gardaí to leave, says Ahern

MORE gardaí will leave the force as the fall-out from the second report of the Morris tribunal into police corruption in Donegal continues, the Taoiseach said last night.

More gardaí to leave, says Ahern

“As happened after the first report last year, senior members of the gardaí in Donegal had to go,” said Mr Ahern. “And after the second report, the disciplinary action is now under way, and more will go. There’s no doubt about that.”

As the tribunal continued, he said more wrongdoing was likely to emerge. “It’s not good. I’m told it will get worse before it gets better,” Mr Ahern said.
