FACILITIES are so inadequate at a garda station in one of Cork’s biggest towns that there are no changing rooms for female gardaí.

According to the garda chief for the East Cork division, Midleton-based Supt Liam Hayes, the facilities at the Youghal station are hopelessly inadequate.

Since Commissioner Noel Conroy controversially ordered the nightly closure of station earlier this year, there has been no serious adverse impact in the area, Supt Hayes added.
