WATERFORD County Council has been accused of dragging its heels and requiring too much red tape from planning applicants.

People trying to get permission to build homes in rural Waterford are facing undue delays and are having requests made of them for information which is often unnecessary, local councillors say.

The council has come under fire for its interpretation of the Government’s new planning guidelines on rural housing.
