Anger over applications for special needs teachers

THE Department of Education has decided on applications for special needs teachers and other resources for 469 children starting primary school in September.

The decision issued to schools in the past three days comes after a lengthy delay, but another 6,500 young people still do not know if they will have appropriate help when classrooms reopen in nine days’ time.

These include more than 200 other children beginning school for the first time whose applications for resources were sent back because they did not have all the necessary documentation.
