Motorist killed in collision named

A MOTORIST who died in a two-vehicle collision on the Limerick to Tipperary road yesterday was named as Robert Walker, aged 31 from Ballinamona, Hospital, Co Limerick.

It was the second road death in Limerick within two days.

Mr Walker was pronounced dead at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital. He was travelling in a Nissan Primera car which was in collision with a lorry at Beary’s Cross.

It is understood the dead man had been travelling from the Caherconlish direction.

The collision happened at a junction on the main road.

The lorry driver was not injured.

Following the accident, the road was closed for nearly an hour and gardaí diverted traffic.
