‘Opinions of mentally ill being ignored’

PSYCHIATRISTS and other medical professionals were yesterday accused of ignoring the views and opinions of patients with mental illness and their families.

Fine Gael deputy health spokesman Dan Neville said that as a result, the unique insight of sufferers and their families are being missed.

Mr Neville called for a system where mental health advocates would act on behalf of those mentally ill patients who are not in a position to advocate for themselves.
