LIMERICK County Council has agreed to assist pensioners and low income homes to pay bin collection charges.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Niall Collins, said he has been informed that a plan is being drawn up to introduce a waiver scheme.

The Fianna Fáil group on the council tabled a notice of motion that “a refuse waiver similar to that which operates in Limerick City Council area be established to commence in January 2007”. The council will now establish a working group to draw up a draft scheme to be presented for final adoption by the council. The motion was agreed unanimously by all parties on the council.
