THE State prosecutor has strongly criticised the standard of some of the files he receives from gardaí investigating crimes.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said he was looking to set up a liaison committee between his office and An Garda Síochána to deal with these and other matters.

Referring to garda files, DPP James Hamilton said: “From my own experience of looking at this, the quality can vary quite a lot.
