State claws back €155m from social welfare fraudsters

THE STATE has managed to claw back over €155 million from social welfare fraudsters so far this year and most of the money came from false dole claims.

Latest figures released by the Department of Social and Family Affairs show that anti-fraud measures retrieved over 78 million during the second quarter of this year.

During the first three months of this year €77.5 million was retrieved from people making false claims.
