DAIRYGOLD management and union representatives, including the company’s biggest union, SIPTU, have jointly referred the issue of Dairygold job losses to the Labour Relations Commission for talks on Monday next.

Yesterday, the main union at the food company rejected management proposals for 500 losses to be implemented by the end of the year.

SIPTU, which represents the vast majority of the 3,200 Dairygold employees, accused the company of stealing a march while the union was in the middle of negotiations with management on a rationalisation programme for the company.
