LEAVING Certificate students said slán to Irish with the completion of their second papers in the subject yesterday morning.

Robbie Cronin of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) said the absence of fiannaíocht or rúraíocht in the Stair na Gaeilge section of the higher level paper might have left an awful lot of students disappointed.

“Every year for the last six or seven years, one of these comes up and students would have been banking on it,” he said.
