Garda groups in public split over McDowell’s Inspectorate

A SPLIT has emerged between the two main garda representative associations towards the new Garda Inspectorate.

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) has broadly welcomed the body while the Garda Representative Association (GRA) has severely criticised it.

The brainchild of the Justice Minister Michael McDowell, the Inspectorate will investigate the polices, procedures and practices of the force.
