Fuel price protest

LORRY drivers are to stage a mass protest outside the Dáil next week as rising fuel prices reach crisis point.

Management at the Irish Road Hauliers Association (IRHA) decided to launch the action next Wednesday after holding an emergency meeting to discuss the issue.

IRHA president Eamonn Morrissey said the industry was forced into a corner by lack of leadership from Government. “We have asked both the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Transport to meet us,” he said, “but we have failed to secure any commitment from their departments on the issue.”
