Ahern may stop US troops using Shannon

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern yesterday said he would consider stopping US troops using Shannon airport if there was action against Iraq without a UN sanction.

Mr Ahern was speaking in a stormy Dáil session yesterday during which the Green Party displayed a “No to War” slogan and walked out of the chamber.

Mr Ahern was criticised by Fine Gael and Labour who accused him of trying to fudge the issue.
