Waterford County Council is applying for permission to develop a materials recovery facility at a vacant factory in Shandon, Dungarvan.

It comes hot on the heels of various initiatives by the city council to reduce waste and spur residents to recycle. And it's fitting that the drive should begin in Environment Minister Martin Cullen's own constituency.
