Labour offer qualified support for proposed anti-social behaviour orders

THE Labour Party will give “qualified” support to Justice Minister Michael McDowell’s controversial plans to introduce anti-social behaviour orders (ASBOs), it has said.

Critics of the proposals fear children as young as 10 could end up in custody on foot of the orders.

Labour said it would have difficulties with the orders being used against anyone this young.
