Gardaí hope note will identify sender of sinister parcel

GARDAÍ are hoping a note accompanying a bullet and a coffin will give them clues to the identity of the person who sent the items to a senior civil servant.

The model wooden coffin, which contained a bullet, was posted to the home of Roscommon County Manager John Tiernan.

It is understood the package arrived at Mr Tiernan’s home near Athlone, Co Westmeath on Christmas Eve.
