FF probe over fake letter

FIANNA FÁIL are to investigate a letter bearing the fake signature of the Taoiseach that was supporting the re-election of a candidate in the local elections.

The letter, which was last week circulated to as many as 2,000 voters in the Gorey area of Wexford, featured a colour picture of Mr Ahern with his signature. The letter urged voters to support local candidate Lorcan Allen of “Fianna Fáil.

The electorate was urged in the letter to give their support to Mr Allen over his running mate, Pat Rath. Mr Allen was elected to Wexford County Council at the weekend. Mr Rath did not get a seat.
