AS the heat of a balmy summer’s day began to fade last night, the family of a young girl brutally shot dead last year stood in silent protest in a bid to force a State agency to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding her murder.

Standing outside the Imperial Hotel in Cork, where the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) held a public meeting on the dangers of passive smoking, Michael Dillon, his wife Patricia and daughters Aoife and Cliona as well as a body of 50 supporters demanded answers.

They want to know why their 24-year-old daughter, Gráinne, was one of only two staff on duty at night in a busy hotel in Limerick.
