Jury warned case may run to Christmas
From a panel of around 200 potential jurors, just seven women and five men were selected for the Wayne O'Donoghue trial, only the second murder trial held in Cork since the foundation of the State.
Solemnly, just after 10am, the 200 or so filed in single line into the Central Criminal Court sitting. The judge, Mr Justice Paul Carney, told them he needed everyone who was called to be able to serve on a case that would last weeks or else tell him now why they should be excused.
