Drink-driving arrests hike in city region

MOTORISTS in Waterford are continuing to drink and drive, arrest figures over the Christmas period show.

While drink-driving arrests in the Waterford/Kilkenny garda division are down on last year, the numbers caught drinking and driving in Waterford city are up on the 2005 level.

There were 62 drink-driving arrests in the dual-county division between November 28, when the campaign began, and January 2. This was down 24 on the same period last year.
