O’Donoghue to order ‘sweeping changes’ at Abbey

SWEEPING changes are to be made to the funding and membership of the board of the Abbey Theatre following the emergence of hidden losses of almost €1 million last year.

Arts Minister John O’Donoghue yesterday signalled he would order major reforms within the national theatre in light of last week’s controversy.

He indicated the Government is likely to take more direct control over the monitoring of the theatre’s financial reporting system.
