THE ISPCC hit out yesterday at the lack of child protection facilities across the country and vowed to make it a political priority.

Unveiling a five-year plan to protect vulnerable children, the society said it was planning to lobby every TD to ensure proper services are put in place. It has already gathered 26,000 signatures and plans to expand this to 250,000.

The ISPCC particularly wants the garda vetting service which provides background checks on certain categories of child workers to be given proper resources so it can include voluntary workers.
