Fury over FG benchmarking plan

FINE GAEL’S controversial call to abandon the €1.2 billion benchmarking process may result in a major backlash against the party.

Unions representing more than 200,000 public servants yesterday reacted angrily to the proposal and to criticisms made by party leader Enda Kenny of the quality of public services.

The Labour Party also rejected the FG proposal out of hand.
