PRIMARY teachers may consider strike action if the Government fails to reduce class sizes and provide proper resources for children with special needs.

INTO to consider strike over class sizes

Staffing and class sizes are the subject of 41 motions submitted for this month's Irish National Teachers Organisation (INTO) annual congress in Galway.

A proposal from the district committee representing branches in Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and Laois, calls for a campaign, to include industrial action if necessary, to ensure delivery of the Programme for Government commitment to reduce infant classes to 20 pupils.
