SINN FÉIN has questioned why the major unionist parties in the North are seemingly doing little to tackle violence by loyalist paramilitaries.

In recent months, the rival Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) and Loyalist Volunteer Force (LVF) have been involved in a lethal turf war. In addition, there has been a spate of attacks against nationalist communities, with the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) linked to many of them.

Sinn Féin yesterday published a dossier listing more than 85 incidents of violence by loyalist paramilitaries since June.
