State ‘must back Shannon air cargo plan’

THE Government must immediately back Shannon Airport’s bid to become the €5 billion air cargo capital of Europe or Ireland will lose the project, Romano Prodi warned yesterday.

The president of the European Commission, Mr Prodi said many European cities are bidding to become the air cargo capital but only one will succeed.

"The competition is immense and the first one off the ground will get all of the business this is why the Irish Government must make this project a priority." he added.
