Police looking for missing Irish girl arrest men after body find
They found the human remains at a property in Nash Court on the Orchard Park estate in Hull.
The two men were arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.
The discovery came hours after police began searching hundreds of addresses close to where the 22-year-old lived in Hull.
The remains were found as between 80 and 100 police officers searched the Orchard Park estate, where Rachel was last seen. A police spokeswoman said that as a result of searches being carried out in the Orchard Park estate, officers found the body of a woman shortly after 1pm.
The body had not been identified but Rachel’s father, who is from Dublin, and mother had been informed of the find.
The house has been sealed off by police and scene of crime officers, along with a Home Office pathologist, were attending the scene.
“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken to two separate police stations in the Hull area,” the spokeswoman added.
Since Rachel’s disappearance in the early hours of New Year’s Day, all open areas and water courses within a mile radius of her last sighting on Hall Road have been searched by teams of specialist officers.
Since the discovery of her mobile phone, Irish passport and her left trainer shoe, Humberside Police have found no trace of Rachel.
