THE public was urged yesterday not to get into a frenzy over the threat of lethal bird flu in Turkey amid growing fears of a pandemic.

Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan assured people that the Government will be assessing the threat on a daily if not an hourly basis.

She said one could not say whether avian flu will arrive in Ireland.
