Best park in Ireland maybe a health hazard

A PARK which was voted the best in Ireland in 2004 may now be a health hazard for Limerick people.

Best park in Ireland maybe a health hazard

The Environmental Section of the Health Service Executive have been called to investigate if a health threat is posed to people as members of the public are sneaking behind bushes in the city’s People’s Park to answer a call of nature as there is no public toilet.

And parents whose children use the park fear this may pose a sanitation risk.

Cllr Joe Leddin, of Labour said: “I bring my own children to the wonderful playground. But if a child needs to go to the toilet parents have to take them to a pub and who wants to have to do that.

“Summer is on the way and tourists will be coming here from the nearby train station. We want to convey the right kind of impression,” Cllr Leddin said.

“The City Manager should immediately begin the process of securing tenders for both the installation and ongoing maintenance of a super loo facility.”
