Policy disastrous for environment, say Greens

THE Government has been accused of failing completely to understand the costs of ignoring climate change.

Green Party finance spokesman Dan Boyle said they were extremely disappointed that the idea of a carbon tax had again been kicked into touch in the Budget.

He said that every year since 1999, Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy had stood in the Dáil chamber and promised such a tax. Yet, he had again long-fingered the promise.
