FINES of up to €1,270 will be imposed on residents in Waterford city who breach new by-laws introduced for parks and open spaces.

The stringent bylaws launched this week are being enforced by the gardaí.

A city council spokesman said: “The by-laws are designed to ensure that all users of the parks and open spaces can enjoy them without hindrance or annoyance from others.”
