Martin seeks cash for hospital units

HEALTH Minister Micheál Martin is to press the Government for the E460 million needed to open the numerous new hospital units lying idle because there are no funds to staff them.

Mr Martin will also seek an increase in the number of medical card holders.

The Government suffered a backlash in the local and European elections because of the ailing health service.
