Man drowns in notorious cove

A 24-YEAR-OLD man drowned last night when he got into difficulty after swimming in a dangerous cove near Kilkee, Co Clare.

The alarm was raised after 7pm when the man swam alone into Byrne’s Cove.

He had been with three companions. The man was recovered by the Kilkee Marine Rescue Service but died later.
