Primary schools face disruption as teachers opt out of yard supervision

DOZENS of primary schools face disruption when they open next week, as some teachers are expected to opt out of lunchtime schoolyard supervision.

The exact numbers which will be affected is extremely hard to predict, but parents will not know what the situation will be at their own children’s schools until classes have returned.

The Irish National Teachers Organisation warned last night that large numbers of staff in up to 30 primary schools could turn down the 37-an-hour deal when it is offered by their principals.
